MCHN 1301 Sheet Metal I (3)

An introduction to the materials, tools, and techniques used in the sheet metal industry. Review of trade math problems involving measurement of lines, area, volume, weight, and geometric figures. Introduction of types and uses of hand, layout, and cutting tools along with bending and forming machines. Practice of material types and properties along with the principles of layout and metal forming. Lab required. (2 Lec., 3 Lab.)

MCHN 1349 Sheet Metal II (3)

Prerequisite: None.
An introduction to various types of pipe and fittings. Emphasis on principles and type of fittings for radial line development are discussed and factors that influence bend allowances and calculations necessary for determining proper bend allowances. Introduction to principles of soldering roof flashings, gutters, down spouts, and sheet metal duct fabrications. Lab required. (2 Lec., 3 Lab.)
