VIET 1370 Beginning Vietnamese (3)
This is a unique need course. Prerequisite: None. This course is an introduction to Vietnamese speaking, comprehension, reading, writing and grammar. Cultural insights are also presented. Emphasis is on pronunciation, comprehension, and oral expression. It is strongly recommended that students who plan to study Vietnamese for more than one semester enroll in Vietnamese 1470, which includes an extra hour of lab per week (and one extra hour of credit for the course). Students who successfully complete Vietnamese 1370 and wish to continue their studies of Vietnamese may register for Vietnamese 1471. (3 Lec., 1 Lab.)

This is a unique need course. Prerequisite: Vietnamese 1471 or the equivalent. Reading, cultural background, conversation and composition are stressed in this course. (3 Lec.)
