DSAE 1203 Introduction to Echocardiography Techniques (2) New course added May 28, 2002
This is a WECM course number. Former course prefix/number DCMS 1214. Prerequisite: Admission to the program. An introduction to scanning techniques and procedures with hands-on experience in a lab setting. Emphasis is placed on the sonographic explanation of the normal adult heart. (2 Lec.)

This is a WECM course number. Former course prefix/number DCMS 1304. Prerequisite: Admission to the program. A study of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the cardiovascular system. Focuses on cardiac and vascular structural anatomy and relationships, electrical innervation, embryology, and hemodynamics of the heart and vascular system. Pathophysiology concepts, including etiology, pathology, signs, symptoms, risk factors, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases are also presented. (3 Lec.)

This is a WECM course number. Former course prefix/number DCMS 2410 Prerequisite: Grade of “C” or better in all previous courses. An emphasis on adult acquired cardiac pathologies. Topics include cardiovascular pathophysiology, quantitative measurements, and the application of 2-D, M-Mode, and Doppler. Recognition of the sonographic appearances of cardiovascular disease is stressed. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)

A continuation of Echocardiographic Evaluation of Pathology I with emphasis on cardiac disease. A discussion of quantitative measurements and application of 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler, and recognition of the sonographic appearances of cardiac disease is stressed. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)
