This certificate plan combines classroom teaching with supervised clinical and field experience for the emergency medical health professional. Upon successful completion of all course work for the certificate, the student is eligible to take the exam for registration as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic through the National Registry of EMTs. Successful completion of that exam is necessary to apply for certification as an EMT-Basic to the Texas Department of Health.
