ITSC 1347   UNIX System Administration II (3) New course added March 17, 2004
This is a WECM course number.
Prerequisite: ITSC 1358 or instructor approval.
Provides students with the necessary skills to administer UNIX workstations in a network environment. System security features will be presented. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

ITSC 1352   Solaris Operating Environment 8 Systems Administrations II (SA-288) (3) New course added March 17, 2004
This is a WECM course number.
Prerequisite: ITSC 1354 or instructor approval.
Designed for the student interested in Solaris certification. This course covers how to install and maintain Sun systems, configure and troubleshoot the Network File System (NFS) environment, and configure the Network Information Services (NIS) environment. Licensing/Certification Agency: Sun Microsystems. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.))

ITSC 1358   UNIX System Administration I (3) New course added March 17, 2004
This is a WECM course number.
Prerequisite: ITSC 1407 or instructor approval.
Provide new system administrators the basics of administering UNIX workstations. Students will perform basic system administration tasks, such as installing a standalone system , adding users, backing up and restoring file systems, and adding new printer support. Emphasis on the procedures needed to perform these system administration tasks. Introduces the concept of the system and disk management. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

ITSC 1380   Cooperative Education - Computer and Information Sciences, General (3)

Prerequisite: Instructor approval prior to enrollment.
Career-related activities, encountered in the student’s area of specialization offered through an individualized agreement among the college, employer, and student. Under the supervision of the college and the employer, the student combines classroom learning with work experience. Includes a lecture component. (1 Lec., 20 Ext.)

ITSC 1391   Special Topics in Computer and Information Sciences, General (3)

Prerequisite: None.
Topics address recently identified current events, skills, knowledge, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student. This course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary. (2 Lec., 2 Lab.)

ITSC 1401   Introduction to Computers (4)
This is a WECM course number. Former course prefix/number CISC 1470.
Prerequisite: None.
Overview of computer information systems. Introduces computer hardware, software, procedures, and human resources. Explores integration and application in business and other segments in society. Fundamentals of computer problem-solving and programming may be discussed. Examines applications and software relating to a specific curricular area. (3 Lec., 4 Lab.)

ITSC 1405   Introduction to PC Operating Systems (4)
This is a WECM course number. Former course prefix/number CISC 2478.
Prerequisite: Basic understanding of personal computers and operating systems as obtained in ITSC 1401 or BCIS 1405 or COSC 1401 or equivalent experience approved by instructor.
A study of personal computer operating systems. Topics include installation and configuration, file management, memory and storage management, control of peripheral devices, and use of utilities. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)

ITSC 1413   Internet/Web Page Development (4)
This is a WECM course number.
Prerequisite: None.
Instruction in the use of Internet services and the fundamentals of web page design and web site development. This course may be repeated when topics and learning outcomes vary. (3 Lec., 4 Lab.)

ITSC 1421   Intermediate PC Operating Systems (4)
This is a WECM course number.
Prerequisite: Basic understanding of personal computers and operating systems as obtained in ITSC 1401 or BCIS 1405 or COSC 1401 or equivalent experience approved by instructor.
Continued study in advanced installation and configuration troubleshooting, advanced file management, memory and storage management. Update peripheral device drivers, and use of utilities to increase system performance. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)

ITSC 1425   Personal Computer Hardware (4)
This is a WECM course number. Former course prefix/number CISC 2480.
Prerequisite: Basic understanding of personal computers and operating systems as obtained in ITSC 1401 or BCIS 1405 or COSC 1401 or equivalent experience approved by instructor.
A study of current personal computer hardware including personal computer assembly and upgrading, setup and configuration, and troubleshooting. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)

Analysis and design methods and tools are studied and applied to practical situations involving various business functions. Utilization of current application software to solve advanced problems and generate customized solutions, involving projects and software specific to a specific curricular area. Topics include problem solving skills, logic structures, and programming. (3 Lec., 4 Lab.)

ITSC 2439   Personal Computer Help Desk (4)
This is a WECM course number.
Prerequisite: ITSC 1405 and (ITSW 1401 or ITSW 2431) and (ITSW 1404 or ITSW 1434) and (ITSW 1407 or ITSW 2437) or instructor approval.
Diagnosis and solution of users hardware and software related problems with on-the-job projects. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
