MRMT 1192 Special Topics in Medical Transcription (1)

Fundamental use of dictation equipment, medical office reports, and creating medical records. Students will learn to spell and use medical terminology appropriately. (2 Lab.)

MRMT 1307 Medical Transcription Fundamentals (3)

Prerequisite: Admission to Medical Transcription or Medical Assistant program or instructor approval.
Fundamentals of medical transcription with hands-on experience in transcribing physician dictation including basic reports such as history and physicals, discharge summaries, consultations, operative reports, and other medical reports. Utilizes transcribing and information processing equipment compatible with industry standards. Designed to develop speed and accuracy. (2 Lec., 2 Lab.)

MRMT 1382 Cooperative Education - Medical Transcription (3)

Prerequisite: MRMT 2433 or concurrent enrollment.
Career related activities encountered in the student’s area of specialization are offered through a cooperative agreement between the college, employer, and student. Under supervision of the college and the employer, the student combines classroom learning with work experience. Directly related to a technical discipline, specific learning objectives guide the student through the paid work experience. This course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary.
