VIET 1311   Introduction to Vietnamese (3)
This is a Texas Common Course Number.
Prerequisite: None.
VIET 1311 is an introduction to the regular Vietnamese course sequence; it is not a substitute for VIET 1411. The focus is on pronunciation and the communications skills using basic vocabulary and grammar. Customs and cultural insights are also presented. Students who wish to continue their studies will next enroll in VIET 1411. This course is cross-listed as Vietnamese 1411. The student may register for either Vietnamese 1311 or Vietnamese 1411, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec., 1 Lab.)

This is a Texas Common Course Number.
Prerequisite: None.
This course is an introductory course intended for students with little or no knowledge of the language. Its aim is to present essential vocabulary and grammar, and to develop the pronunciation, listening, reading, and writing skills necessary for basic communication and comprehension. Customs and cultural insights are also presented. This course is cross-listed as Vietnamese 1311. The student may register for either Vietnamese 1411 or Vietnamese 1311, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec., 2 Lab.)
