ASSOCIATE IN ARTS DEGREE WITH A FIELD OF STUDY IN TEACHER PREPARATION FOR PRE-K - GRADE 4
Available at Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, Mountain View, and Richland Colleges

This plan is an official Field of Study Degree approved by The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board

Degree Code: AA.FS.TCH.PRP.PREK-4

This degree plan is an officially approved plan by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for students who wish to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Human Sciences or Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Child and Family Studies/Child Development to become and Early Childhood teacher. Receiving institutions are not required to accept a grade below "C" in transfer.

In order to be eligible to receive this AA degree, a student must:

  1. Complete a minimum of 61 credit hours as shown below;
  2. Earn a grade of "C" or better in English 1301, either Speech 1311 or Speech 1315, and the selected college-level mathematics course;
  3. Receive a GPA (2) of at least 2.00 ("C");
  4. Meet all Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards and course requirements; and
  5. Complete at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by the college awarding the degree.

COMMUNICATIONS

English 1301 (a grade of "C" or better required), English 1302, and either Speech 1311 or Speech 1315 (a grade of "C" or better required)

NOTE: This requirement cannot be met by using the following combinations: BIOL 1406 and 1408; CHEM 1405 and 1411; PHYS 1401 and 1405; PHYS 1401 and 2425; PHYS 1405 and 2425.
