GERM 1411   Beginning German I (4)
This is a Texas Common Course Number.
Prerequisite: None.
This course is an introductory course intended for students with little or no knowledge of the language. Its aim is to present the essential vocabulary and grammar, and to develop the pronunciation, listening, reading, and writing skills necessary for basic communication and comprehension. Customs and cultural insights are also presented. This course is cross-listed as German 1311. The student may register for either German 1411 or German 1311, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec., 2 Lab.)

GERM 1412   Beginning German II (4)
This is a Texas Common Course Number.
Prerequisite: German 1411 or the equivalent or demonstrated competence approved by the instructor.
This course continues the oral practice, reading, writing, grammar and cultural studies begun in German 1411. Students are expected to acquire a substantial amount of vocabulary and begin to deal with idiomatic language and complicated syntax. (3 Lec., 2 Lab.)
