An introduction to the principles of gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), setup/use of GTAW equipment, and safe use of tools and equipment. Welding instruction in various positions on joint designs. WLDG 1257   Intermediate Shielded Metal Arc (SMAW) Welding (2)

A study of the production of various fillets and groove welds. Preparation of specimens for testing in all test positions. Lab required. This course is cross-listed as WLDG 1457. WLDG 1323   Welding Safety, Tools, and Equipment (3)

An introduction to welding careers and safety practice, including welding safety; OSHA and the Hazardous Communication Act; Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS); basic mathematics; measuring systems; shop operations; use and care of precision measuring tools; and the use and care of hand and power tools. Instruction on various types of welding equipment and processes, basic welding gases, fluxes, rods, electrodes, symbols, and blueprints. Lab required. (2 Lec., 3 Lab.)

WLDG 2213   Intermediate Welding Using Multiple Processes (2)

Prerequisite: None.
Instruction using layout tools and blueprint reading with demonstration and guided practices with some of the following welding processes: oxy-fuel gas cutting and welding, shield metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), or any other approved welding process. This course is cross-listed as WLDG 2413. The student may register for either WLDG 2213 or WLDG 2413, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (1 Lec., 4 Lab./1 Lec., 3 Lab.)

WLDG 2214   Intermediate Welding Using Multiple Processes (2)
