Toward EXcellence, Access and Success (TEXAS) Grant

TEXAS Grants are for well-prepared, eligible graduates (no earlier than 1998) from public or accredited high schools in Texas. In addition to satisfying general eligibility requirements, recipients of these grants:

A student who:
  • Is a Texas resident;
  • Has financial need and an expected family contribution (EFC) of no more than $8,500;
  • Has applied for any available financial aid or assistance;
  • Has not been previously granted a baccalaureate degree;
  • Enrolls at least ¾ time in an undergraduate degree or certificate program at a Texas non-profit college or university;
  • Has not been convicted of a felony or a crime involving a controlled substance; and
  • Graduated from an accredited high school in Texas no earlier than the 1998-1999 school year;
  • Completed the recommended or distinguished achievement high school curriculum or its equivalent(1), and
  • Enrolls in an eligible Texas college or university within 16 months of high school graduation;
OR
A student who:
  • Is a Texas resident;
  • Has financial need and an expected family contribution (EFC) of no more than $8,500;
  • Has applied for any available financial aid or assistance;
  • Has not been previously granted a baccalaureate degree;
  • Enrolls at least ¾ time in an undergraduate degree or certificate program at a Texas non-profit college or university;
  • Has not been convicted of a felony or a crime involving a controlled substance;
  • Received his/her first associate degree in May 2001 or later, and
  • Enrolls in a higher level undergraduate program within 12 months of receiving the AD.

Academic performance and other requirements must be met for students to receive continuing eligibility.
