HUMA 1301 Introduction To The Humanities

HUMA 1302 Advanced Humanities (3)
This is a Texas Common Course Number. Prerequisite: Humanities 1301 or HUMA 1315 or demonstrated competence approved by the instructor. Human value choices are presented through the context of the humanities. Universal concerns are explored, such as a person's relationship to self and to others and the search for meaning. The human as a loving, believing and hating being is also studied. Emphasis is on the human as seen by artists, playwrights, film makers, musicians, dancers, philosophers, and theologians. The commonality of human experience across cultures and the premises for value choices
are also stressed. (3 Lec.)

HUMA 1315 Fine Arts Appreciation (3) New course added May 26, 2005
This is a Common Course Number. Prerequisite: Developmental Reading 0093 or English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0044 or have met the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standard in Reading. Introduction to the Humanities focuses on the study and appreciation of the fine and performing arts and the ways in which they reflect the values of civilizations. (3 Lec.)
