In order to be eligible to receive this AS degree, a student must:

  1. Complete a minimum of 72 credit hours including all the required courses listed;
  2. Earn a grade of "C" or better in English 1301, either Speech 1311 or 1315, and the selected college-level mathematics course;
  3. Receive a GPA (2) of at least 2.00 ("C");
  4. Meet all Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards and course prerequisites; and
  5. Complete at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by the college awarding the degree.
Students who plan to transfer must work closely with an advisor. Students should check with Prairie View A & M and the University of Houston to determine the total number of transfer credits these institutions will accept. Students who do not plan to transfer may wish to look at related Associate in Applied Sciences degrees and/or certificates.

Note: State universities are required to accept only 66 hours in transfer; therefore, it is strongly suggested that students check with their receiving university regarding the acceptance of any credit hours over the 66 credit hour maximum.
