A studio course focused on advanced 3-D modeling and rendering techniques using industry standard software: spline modeling, patch modeling, and other organic modeling techniques; learn advanced use of camera settings, lighting, and surfacing to create detailed environments; cover advanced topics such as particle and volumetric effects, and setting up a model with weight maps, hierarchies, bones, and constraints. This course covers techniques for writing effective headlines, captions and copy for a variety of visual media. Students learn to gather facts, generate ideas, present information and edit copy for advertisements, web pages, brochures, newsletters, press kits, multimedia presentations and other forms of visual communication. ARTC 2374 Professional Design Techniques (3) This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: Visual Communications First Year Curriculum and demonstrated competence approved by the instructor. The student explores all phases of the design process and client relationships in producing graphics and a complete website for an actual client. Topics include creating a client survey, preparing a project plan or proposal and contract, creating logos, brochures, and/or newsletters, creating website architecture, navigational elements, site structure, informational design and visual interface design to produce graphics, printed materials and a multi-page website for the client.
