Minimum Passing TSI Standards

Students who meet the TSI state standard for reading and writing will be able to enroll into college level courses that require college level readiness in reading and/or writing skills. Students who meet the minimum TSI state standard for math will still be required to score at a higher level on a TSI approved math assessment to meet DCCCD college level math prerequisite requirements. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board acknowledges that colleges and universities can require a higher TSI cut score to meet college course prerequisites. (see grid below).

Level II Certificates and Associate in Applied Sciences degrees that do not require college level math will have the passing standard for mathematics as required by the state's TSI math readiness standard. Associate in Arts, Associate in Sciences, Associate of Arts in Teaching, Associate in Applied Sciences, and Level Two Certificates that require college level math will have the passing standard for mathematics as required by the state's TSI math standard plus successful completion of DCCCD course prerequisites or by a required DCCCD test score (see grid below).

The DCCCD will use the following minimum passing standards to determine a student's readiness to enroll in freshman-level academic coursework:
