SPCH 1311 Introduction To Speech Communication (3)
This is a Texas Common Course Number. Prerequisite: One of the following must be met: (1) Developmental Reading 0093 AND Developmental Writing 0093; (2) English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0044 AND 0054; or (3) have met Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Reading and Writing standards. Theory and practice of speech communication behavior in one-to-one, small group, and public communication situations are introduced. Students learn more about themselves, improve skills in communicating with others, and prepare and deliver formal public speeches. (3 Lec.)

SPCH 1315 Fundamentals Of Public Speaking (3)
This is a Texas Common Course Number. Prerequisite: One of the following must be met: (1) Developmental Reading 0093 AND Developmental Writing 0093; (2) English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0044 AND 0054; or (3) have met Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Reading and Writing standards. An introductory course to develop the student's skills, knowledge, and understanding of the public speaking process. Topics include the principles of reasoning, audience analysis, collection of materials, outlining, and delivery. Emphasis is on the oral presentation of well-prepared speeches, using computer technology when appropriate. (3 Lec.)

SPCH 2301 Introduction to Technology and Human Communication (3)
This is a Texas Common Course Number. Prerequisite: One of the following must be met: (1) Developmental Reading 0093 AND Developmental Writing 0093; (2) English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0044 AND 0054; or (3) have met Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Reading and Writing Standards. This course examines the influence of technology on human communication. Modern communication technologies are surveyed, their histories are examined, and their influences on interpersonal, small group, organizational, public, and intercultural communication are discussed.
