Digital imaging using raster image editing and/or image creation software: scanning, resolution, file formats, output devices, color systems, and image-acquisitions. The fundamentals of using digital layout as a primary publishing tool and the basic concepts and terminology associated with typography and page layout. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

A survey of computer design concepts, terminology, processes, and procedures. Topics include computer graphics hardware, electronic images, electronic publishing, vector-based graphics, and interactive multimedia. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

ARTC 1341   3-D Animation I (3)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: None.
Instruction in three-dimensional (3-D) modeling and rendering techniques including lighting, staging, camera, and special effects. Emphasis on 3-D modeling building blocks using primitives to create simple or complex objects. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

ARTC 1345   3-D Modeling and Rendering (3)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: IMED 1301.
A studio course in the theory and technique of three-dimensional (3-D) modeling utilizing appropriate software. Topics include the creation and modification of 3-D geometric shapes; a variety of rendering techniques; and use of camera light sources, texture, and surface mapping. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

ARTC 2435   Portfolio Development for Graphic Design (4)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: None.
Preparation of a portfolio comprised of completed graphic design class projects. Evaluation and demonstration of portfolio presentation methods based on the student's specific area of study. This course is cross-listed as ARTC 2335. The student may register for either ARTC 2335 or ARTC 2435, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
