EDUC 1301   Introduction to the Teaching Profession (3)
This is a Texas Common Course Number.
Prerequisite: Developmental Reading 0093 or English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0044 or have met the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standard in Reading.
An enriched integrated pre-service course and content experience for students interested in a teaching career. This courses is an introduction to and analysis of the culture of schooling and classrooms. Lab provides the student with opportunities to participate in 30 hours of early field observations at all levels of P-12 school with varied and diverse student populations. Students will be required to submit to and pass a criminal background search as prescribed by the program and college. (2 Lec., 2 Lab.)

EDUC 1325   Principles and Practices of Multicultural Education (3)
This is a Texas Common Course Number.
Prerequisite: None.
An examination of cultural diversity found in society and reflected in the classroom. Topics will include the study of major cultures and their influence on lifestyle, behavior, learning, intercultural communication and teaching, as well as psychosocial stressors encountered by diverse cultural groups. (3 Lec.)

Prerequisite: EDUC 1301.
An enriched integrated pre-service course and content experience that provides an overview of schooling and classrooms from the perspectives of language, gender, socioeconomic status, ethnic, and academic diversity and equity with an emphasis on factors that facilitate learning. Lab provides the student with opportunities to participate in 30 hours of early field observations of P-12 special populations. Students will be required to submit to and pass a criminal background search as prescribed by the program and college. (2 Lec., 2 Lab.)
