HUMA 1301   Introduction To The Humanities
Effective Fall 2005, HUMA 1301 is no longer offered and has been replaced by HUMA 1315 which meets degree and core requirements.

HUMA 1302   Advanced Humanities (3)
This is a Texas Common Course Number.
Prerequisite: Humanities 1301 or HUMA 1315 or demonstrated competence approved by the instructor.
Human value choices are presented through the context of the humanities. Universal concerns are explored, such as a person's relationship to self and to others and the search for meaning. The human as a loving, believing and hating being is also studied. Emphasis is on the human as seen by artists, playwrights, film makers, musicians, dancers, philosophers, and theologians. The commonality of human experience across cultures and the premises for value choices are also stressed. (3 Lec.)

Humanities 1315 is a course designed as an introduction to the Arts: such as (but not limited to) Music, Visual, Architecture, Theatre, Dance, and Cinematic. This course focuses on the study and appreciation of the fine and performing arts and the ways in which they reflect the values of civilizations. (3 Lec.)

Prerequisite: HUMA 1305, 1311, or 1315.
Humanities 2319 examines the historical, economic, political, literary, and social development of various cultural groups of the United States. Specific course descriptions, which may change from semester to semester, are available each semester prior to registration.
