POFM 1300   Medical Coding Basics (3) New course added August 28, 2007
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: None.
Presentation and application of basic coding rules, principles, guidelines, and conventions utilizing various coding systems. (3 Lec.)

POFM 1302   Medical Software Applications (3)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: None.
Medical software applications for the management and operation of health care information systems. (2 Lec., 3 Lab.)

POFM 1309   Medical Office Procedures (3)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: Basic keyboarding skills.
Introduction to basic medical office skills including telephone techniques, filing and indexing, mail handling, appointment scheduling, travel arrangements, correspondence, and business transactions. Emphasis on human relations and customer service skills. (2 Lec., 2 Lab.)

POFM 1327   Medical Insurance (3) New course added August 28, 2007

Prerequisite: None.
Survey of medical insurance including the life cycle of various claim forms, terminology, litigation, patient relations, and ethical issues. (3 Lec.)
