This sequence is for students interested in learning the UNIX Operating System up to an intermediate level and the basics of Open Source software. UNIX topics covered include UNIX commands, file system structure, system editors and simple shell programming. Open Source topics include LINUX installation and configuration and Apache installation, configuration and utilization.

Prerequisite: Basic understanding of personal computers and operating systems as obtained in ITSC 1401 or BCIS 1405 or COSC 1401 or equivalent experience approved by designated personnel.
