RNSG 1161 Clinical - Nursing - Registered Nurse Training (1)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: Current Texas LVN license, admission to the Associate Degree Nursing program,
and "C" grade or better in SCIT 1407 or BIOL 2401, PSYC 2301, ENGL 1301, and MATH 1314 equaling a grade point average of 2.5 or better. Additional prerequisites include SCIT 1408 or BIOL 2402, BIOL 2420, PSYC 2314 and SPCH 1311 with a minimum grade of "C." Licensed Vocational Nurses will take RNSG 1327/1161/1270 in place of RNSG 1423, RNSG 1460, RNSG 2504, RNSG 1129, and RNSG 1461. Concurrent enrollment in corequisite courses RNSG 1327 and RNSG 1270.
A health-related, work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. Focus is on health promotion, expanded assessment, multi-disciplinary teamwork, communication, and the role of the nurse within a legal/ethical framework in a mental health setting. Content includes applicable competencies in basic workplace skills. (6 Ext.)
