DSPE 2470 Echocardiographic Evaluation of Anomalies I (4) New course added March 25, 2008
This is a Local Need Course. Prerequisite: Students must have successfully completed all previous program and support courses with a grade of "C" or better. Corequisite: Students must be concurrently enrolled in DSPE 2371 and DSPE 2670. A study of cardiac embryology, fetal circulation and cardiac congenital disease. This course will cover anomalies of; cardiac position, venous return, A-V valves and the atria and ventricles. Emphasis will be placed on defect anatomy and hemodynamic consequences, and the surgical repair or other treatment options associated with each anomaly. Echocardiographic imaging in the pre and post surgical patient will be covered. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)
