Degree Plan Code: AAS.ECC.NURSING.08 The Associate Degree Nursing Program is a two-year, 71 credit hour program, leading to the Associate in Applied Sciences Degree. The program prepares graduates to be eligible to write the NCLEX-RN Examination to become licensed as a Registered Nurse (R.N.) in Texas. The program is accredited by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas, (333 Guadalupe, Suite 3-460, Austin, Texas 78701: Telephone number 512-305-7400) and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (61 Broadway, 33rd Floor, New York, New York 10006: Telephone number 212-363-5555). The program combines classroom and skills laboratory experience with hospital clinical experience. This program also has an LVN to RN bridge option that is only offered at the El Centro campus. Upon successful completion of the bridge courses which are RNSG 1327, RNSG 1270 and RNSG 1161; the student will be awarded an additional 14 hours of equivalency credit. This will award the student 71 total credit hours for the program. The program offered at North Lake is under the administration and accreditation of the El Centro College Associate Degree Nursing program. Students will attend classes at North Lake, but receive their degrees from El Centro. Contact the Assessment Center at El Centro College for the pre-entrance assessment and, Health Occupations Admissions to receive an information packet. Students who are pursuing an associate degree to be a registered nurse will follow the degree plan below.

+Humanities/Fine Arts - must be selected from the DCCCD Core Curriculum for Humanities/Fine Arts. ++BIOL 1406 Biology for Science Majors I or SCIT 1407 Applied Human Anatomy and Physiology I are prerequisites to BIOL 2401 Anatomy and Physiology I. A grade of "C" or better is required for all courses.
