RNSG 1413 Foundations for Nursing Practice (4)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: ENGL 1301, CHEM 1405 or CHEM 1411, BIOL 2401 OR SCIT 1407, and PSYC 2301 with a minimum grade of "C." Admission to the Professional Nursing Program or administrative approval. Corequisite: RNSG 1462, RNSG 1105. Introduction to the role of the professional nurse as provider of care, coordinator of care, and member of the profession. Topics include but are not limited to the fundamental concepts of nursing practice, history of professional nursing, a systematic framework for decision-making, mechanisms of disease, the needs and problems that nurses help patients manage, and basic psychomotor skills. Emphasis on knowledge, judgment, skills and professional values within a legal/ethical framework. (4 Lec.)
