ECON 1303 Economics of Contemporary Social Issues (3) This is a Texas Common Course Number. Prerequisite: Developmental Reading 0093 or English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0044 or have met the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standard in Reading. This course is an application of the basic economic concepts to the study of social issues and issues of public policy. Topics such as the environment, health care, welfare reform, poverty, job security and economic growth are discussed. This course may also serve as preparation for Economics 2301 and Economics 2302, but will not replace either of these courses where they are required in a specific degree plan. (3 Lec.)
