HART 1356   EPA Recovery Certification Preparation (3)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Certification training for HVAC refrigerant recovery and recycling. Instruction will provide a review of EPA guidelines for refrigerant recovery and recycling during the installation, service, and repair of all HVAC and refrigeration systems. (2 Lec., 2 Lab.)

HART 1368   Practicum (Or Field Experience) - Heating, Air Conditioning, And Refrigeration Technology/Technician (3)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: HART 1401, HART 1403, and HART 1407.
Practical general training and experiences in the workplace. The college with the employer develops and documents an individualized plan for the student. The plan relates the workplace training and experiences to the student's general and technical course of study. The guided external experiences may be paid or unpaid. (21 Ext.)

HART 1380   Cooperative Education - Heating, Air Conditioning, And Refrigeration Technology/Technician (3)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: HART 1401, HART 1403, and HART 1407.
Career related activities encountered in the student's area of specialization are offered through a cooperative agreement between the college, employer, and student. Under supervision of the college and the employer, the student combines classroom learning with work experience. Directly related to a technical discipline, specific learning objectives guide the student through the paid work experience. (1 Lec., 20 Ext.)

HART 1401   Basic Electricity for HVAC (4)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Principles of electricity as required by HVAC, including proper use of test equipment, electrical circuits, and component theory and operation. This course is cross-listed as HART 1301. The student may register for either HART 1401 or HART 1301, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec.,3 Lab.)

HART 1403   Air Conditioning Control Principles (4)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: HART 1401.
A basic study of electrical, pressure, and temperature controls including motor starting devices, operating relays, and troubleshooting safety controls and devices. Emphasis on use of wiring diagrams to analyze high and low voltage circuits. A review of Ohms law as applied to A/C controls and circuits. This course is cross-listed as HART 1303. The student may register for either HART 1403 or HART 1303, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)

HART 1407   Refrigeration Principles (4)
This is a WECM Course Number.
An introduction to the refrigeration cycle, basic thermodynamics, heat transfer, temperature/pressure relationship, safety, refrigeration containment, and refrigeration components. This course is cross-listed as HART 1307 and HART 1507. The student may register for either HART 1307, HART 1407 or HART 1507, but may receive credit for only one of the three. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)

HART 1411   Solar Fundamentals (4)

Study of heat transference, motors, pumps and other mechanical devices; solid state switches; photovoltaic plates and energy conversion; thermal dynamics; and solar energy. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)

HART 1445   Gas And Electric Heating (4)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: HART 1401, HART 1403 or consent of instructor.
A study of the procedures and principles used in servicing heating systems including gas fired and electric furnaces. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)

HVAC standards and concepts with emphasis on the understanding, and documentation of the codes and regulations required for the state mechanical contractors license and local codes. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)

HART 2436   Air Conditioning Troubleshooting (4)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: HART 1441, HART 1445, HART 2449, or consent of instructor.
An advanced course in application of troubleshooting principles and use of test instruments to diagnose air conditioning and refrigeration components and system problems including conducting performance tests. This course is cross-listed as HART 2336. The student may register for either HART 2436 or HART 2336, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)

HART 2438   Air Conditioning Installation and Startup (4)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: HART 1441, HART 1445 and HART 2449.
A study of air conditioning system installation, refrigerant piping, condensate disposal, and air cleaning equipment with emphasis on startup and performance testing. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)

HART 2445   Residential Air Conditioning Systems Design (4)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: Advanced standing, or consent of instructor.
Study of the properties of air and results of cooling, heating, humidifying or dehumidifying; heat gain and heat loss calculations including equipment selection and balancing the air system. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)

HART 2449   Heat Pumps (4)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: HART 1441 and HART 1445 or consent of instructor.
A study of heat pumps, heat pump control circuits, defrost controls, auxiliary heat, air flow, and other topics related to heat pump systems. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)
