This course examines the principles, logic, and application of parliamentary procedure. It addresses how parliamentary procedure is used in meetings to encourage participation, exercise control, and increase efficiency and effectiveness. (2 Lab.)

Prerequisite: One of the following must be met: (1) Developmental Reading 0093 AND Developmental Writing 0093; (2) English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0044 AND 0054; or (3) have met Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Reading and Writing standards AND DCCCD Writing score prerequisite requirement.
Theory and practice of speech communication behavior in one-to-one, small group, and public communication situations are introduced. Students learn more about themselves, improve skills in communicating with others, and prepare and deliver formal public speeches. (3 Lec.)

Prerequisite: One of the following must be met: (1) Developmental Reading 0093 AND Developmental Writing 0093; (2) English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0044 AND 0054; or (3) have met Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Reading and Writing standards AND DCCCD Writing score prerequisite requirement.
An introductory course to develop the student's skills, knowledge, and understanding of the public speaking process. Topics include the principles of reasoning, audience analysis, collection of materials, outlining, and delivery. Emphasis is on the oral presentation of well-prepared speeches, using computer technology when appropriate. (3 Lec.)
