ENGINE TECHNOLOGY -- MARINE TECHNOLOGY

  • Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites.
  • Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by the college awarding the degree.

Degree Plan Code: C1.ENG.MARINE.07

This program is designed to train students to meet entry level requirements in the field of marine engine mechanics. This will include theory, diagnosis, repair, overhaul and maintenance of outboard marine engines. Included in this program is the study of outboard marine engine fuel, electrical and ignition systems, engine overhaul and tune-up, and lower units. Throughout the entire program an emphasis is placed on accepted shop techniques used throughout the outboard marine engine service industry.

Since not all courses in this program are transferable, students enrolling in this program who may plan to transfer to a four-year institution should consult with an advisor or counselor regarding transfer requirements.
