VTHT 1401   Introduction to Veterinary Technology (4)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: Program Acceptance.
Survey of the profession of veterinary technology with emphasis on basic techniques, handling and care of domestic animals, and ethical and professional requirements. The student will demonstrate basic restraint, medication, and treatment techniques for domestic animals; identify breeds of domestic animals; and specify the distinct job responsibilities of a veterinary technician in a modern veterinary practice including physical exams, basic care, feeding, sanitation, public and/or client relations, and ethical and legal issues. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)

Academic Courses
Designated by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for transfer among community colleges and state public four year colleges and universities as freshman and sophomore general education courses.

WECM Courses
Designated by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board as workforce education (technical) courses offered for credit and CEUs (Continuing Education Units). While these courses are designed to transfer among state community colleges, they are not designed to automatically transfer to public four year colleges and universities.
