ASSOCIATE IN ARTS DEGREE WITH AN EMPHASIS IN PHILOSOPHY AND RELIGION Available at Cedar Valley and El Centro Colleges

This is an "Emphasis" degree. Students should read and understand the paragraphs below.
This degree plan is designed to meet the needs of students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university. Students planning to continue their Philosophy and Religion studies as a transfer student should check specific requirements at the transfer institution. This is a general plan and may not satisfy all the requirements of a specific transfer four-year college/institution.
In order to be eligible to receive this AA degree, a student must:
Complete a minimum of 63 credit hours including all the required courses listed;
Earn a grade of "C" or better in English 1301, either Speech 1311 or 1315, and the selected college-level mathematics course;
Complete at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by the college awarding the degree.
This degree may be taken through a combination of on-campus and distance education offerings, or, if planned correctly, the degree may be completed entirely through distance education. Receiving institutions are not required to accept a grade below "C" in transfer.
Students who plan to transfer must work closely with an advisor/counselor.

PHIL 2307 Introduction to Social and Political Philosophy
Select one of the following:
RELI 2321 Contemporary Religious Problems or RELI 1304 Major World Religion
II. Worldview Studies Track Select each of the following: RELI 1304 Major World Religion and RELI 2321 Contemporary Religious Problems
Select one of the following courses: PHIL 2306 Ethics or PHIL 2318 Contemporary Philosophy or RELI 1316 Religion in American Culture or RELI 1317 The History and Literature of the Bible
III. History of Ideas Track Select each of the following: PHIL 2316 History of Ancient Philosophy PHIL 2317 History of Modern Philosophy PHIL 2318 Contemporary Philosophy
