INDS 1301 Basic Elements of Design (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: Interior Design Program major. Students must earn a grade of "C" or better. A study of basic design concepts with projects in shape, line, value, texture, pattern, spatial illusion, and form. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
INDS 1315 Materials, Methods, and Estimating (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. A study of materials and textiles, methods of construction and installation, and estimating for interior design applications. Includes a thorough overview of textiles. The student will identify appropriate materials and textiles for specific interior design applications: calculate quantities and costs of materials; and identify quality construction, installation, and craftsmanship. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
INDS 1319 Technical Drawing for Interior
Designers (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: Interior Design Major, DFTG 1305. Student must earn a grade of "C" or better. An introduction to reading and preparing technical construction drawings for interior design; including plans, elevations, details, schedules, dimensions and lettering. Manual plans will be generated. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
INDS 1341 Color Theory and Application (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: Student must earn a grade of "C" or better. A study of color theory and its applications to interior design. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
INDS 1345 Commercial Design I (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: INDS 1319, 1301, 1315, 2335, 2313, 2321, 2317. INDS 2315 is a prerequisite or must be taken concurrently. A study of design principles applied to furniture layout and space planning for commercial interiors. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
INDS 1351 History of Interiors I (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: ARTS 1303, ARTS 1304. Student must earn a grade of "C" or better. A historical survey of design in architecture, interiors, furnishings, and decorative elements from the ancient cultures through the Italian Renaissance time period. (3 Lec., 1 Lab.)
INDS 1352 History of Interiors II (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: ARTS 1303, 1304. Student must earn a grade of "C" or better. A multi-cultural historical survey of design in architecture, interiors, furnishings, and decorative elements from the post-Renaissance period to present time. (3 Lec., 1 Lab.)
INDS 1370 Basic Computer-Aided Drafting for Interior Designers (3)
This is a Local Need Course. Prerequisite: INDS 1319. Student must earn a grade of "C" or better. An introduction to basic computer-aided drafting as a tool for interior design, illustration, drafting, and design development. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
INDS 1391 Special Topics in Interior Design (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Topics address recently identified current events, skills, knowledges, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student. This course was designed to be repeated multiple times to improve student proficiency. This is an introductory course to the many aspects of restoration, preservation, and adaptive reuse of structures and spaces. Emphasis is placed on the architectural interior. Legal and tax issues are discussed. Restoration projects involving actual structures are studied, along with theoretical problems. Specialized resources are included. This course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary. (2 Lec., 3 Lab.)
INDS 1491 Special Topics in Interior Design (4)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: INDS 2331. Topics address recently identified current events, skills, knowledges, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student. The principles studied in INDS 2331 are expanded to include project management. Advanced construction documents are prepared. The design programming document prepared in INDS 2331 will be developed into a capstone design experience demonstrating mastery of the interior design process from concept to completion. This course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary. (3 Lec., 4 Lab.)
INDS 2280 Cooperative Education - Interior Design (2)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: 2nd or 3rd year Interior Design student. Career related activities encountered in the student's area of specialization are offered through a cooperative an individualized agreement between among the college, employer, and student. Under supervision of the college and the employer, the student combines classroom learning with work experience. Includes a lecture component. (1 Lec., 10 Ext.)
INDS 2305 Interior Design Graphics (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: INDS 1319, 1370. Student must earn a grade of "C" or better. Skill development in computer-generated graphics and technical drawings for interior design applications. (2 Lec., 2 Lab.)
INDS 2307 Textiles for Interior Design (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: Interior Design major. Student must earn a grade of "C" or better. The study of interior design textiles including, characteristics, care, codes, and applications. A project notebook is required. (3 Lec.)
INDS 2313 Residential Design I (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: INDS 1301 and 1341 with concurrent enrollment in INDS 1319. Student must earn a grade of "C" or better in all their prerequisites to enroll in this course. The study of residential spaces, including identification of client needs, programming, standards, space planning, drawings, and presentations. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
INDS 2315 Lighting for Interior Designers (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: INDS 2313, 2335. Student must earn a grade of "C" or better. Fundamentals of lighting design, including lamps, luminaries, lighting techniques, and applications for residential and commercial projects. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
INDS 2317 Rendering Techniques (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: INDS 2321, 1319. Student must earn a grade of "C" or better. A study of rendering techniques for formal interior design presentation, using a variety of media. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
INDS 2321 Presentation Drawing (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: Interior Design major. Student must earn a grade of "C" or better. An introduction to two- and three-dimensional presentations, including drawings with one- and two-point perspectives, plans, and elevations. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
INDS 2325 Professional Practices for Interior Designers (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: 2nd or 3rd year Interior Design major. Student must earn a grade of "C" or better. A study of business practices and procedures for interior designers, including professional ethics, project management, marketing, and legal issues. (3 Lec., 1 Lab.)
INDS 2330 Interior Design Building Systems (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: INDS 1319, 1370, 1301, 2313, 2315. Student must earn a grade of "C" or better. An overview of building materials, mechanical systems, and construction techniques as applied to interior design. Discussion of codes, project sequencing and the interpretation of detailed working drawings. (3 Lec.)
INDS 2331 Commercial Design II (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: INDS 2313, 2335, 1345. Student must earn a grade of "C" or better. Advanced concepts of specialized commercial interior design projects, including hospitality, corporate, retail, health care, institutional, or other specialized commercial design projects. In addition the student will select a project and complete a programming document; which will be completely developed into the capstone interior design project in INDS 1491. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
INDS 2335 Residential Design II (3)
This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: INDS 1301, INDS 1319, INDS 1341, INDS 2313, with concurrent enrollment in INDS 1370 and INDS 2317. Student must earn a grade of "C" or better. A comprehensive study of complex residential interior design problems, including advanced space planning, documentation, specifications, budgets, and presentation renderings. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
