RNSG 2504   Integrated Care of the Client with Common Health Care Needs (5)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: Minimum grade of "C" in RNSG 1423, RNSG 1460, SCIT 1408 or BIOL 2402, and PSYC 2314. Concurrent enrollment in BIOL 2420 and SPCH 1311. Concurrent enrollment in corequisite courses RNSG 1129 and RNSG 1461.
Application of a systematic problem-solving process and critical thinking skills to provide nursing care to diverse clients/families across the life span with common health care needs including, but not limited to, common childhood/adolescent diseases, uncomplicated perinatal care, mental health concepts, perioperative care, frequently occurring adult health problems and health issues related to aging. Emphasis on secondary disease prevention and collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary health care team. Content includes applicable competencies in knowledge, judgment, skills, and professional values within a legal/ethical framework. This course lends itself to an intergrated approach. Focus is on caring, competent nursing care of individuals and families during childbearing and childrearing ages. Emphasis is on aspects of health promotion, health maintenance, nutrition, pharmacologic management. Content includes applicable competencies in basic workplace skills. Licensing/certification Agency: Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas (BNE). (5 Lec.)
