Selection and application of production supplies and equipment. Digital and analog signal concepts and their use in production. Includes the application and operation of television production equipment. (2 Lec., 2 Lab.)

RTVB 1317   Convergence of Electronic Media (3)
This is a WECM Course Number.
History and future of electronic media. Includes radio, television, Internet, and convergent technologies. Recognizes regulatory and economic issues. Explores career opportunities in electronic media. (3 Lec.)

RTVB 1329   Scriptwriting (3)

Writing of commercials, public service announcements, promos, news documentaries, and other broadcast and film materials. Emphasis on the format and style of each type of writing and development of a professional writing style. (3 Lec.)

RTVB 1345   Broadcast Engineering (3)

Engineering video productions including the basic alignment/adjustment of cameras, test equipment, storage devices, and other studio equipment. Basic system design and construction and digital standards for broadcast, cable, satellite, and network distribution. (2 Lec., 3 Lab.)

Audio production theories regarding multitrack recording, studio live production and equipment operation. (2 Lec., 3 Lab.)

RTVB 1371   Television Lighting (3)
This is a Local Need Course.
Prerequisite: RTVB 1305, concurrent enrollment in RTVB 1305 or with approval from instructor.
This course introduces students to the theory and application of lighting for television production. Topics include basic lighting equipment for studio and location productions and the application of lighting to a variety of production environments. Choices of color, angle, intensity, distribution, and the proper use of lighting control scrim, screens, and gels are emphasized. (2 Lec., 3 Lab.)

Career related activities encountered in the students area of specialization are offered through a cooperative agreement between the college, employer, and student. Under supervision of the college and the employer, the student combines classroom learning with work experience. RTVB 2370   Business Aspects of Video Technology (3)
This is a Local Need Course.
This general business course for video stresses personnel management, production budgeting, staffing, decision-making, portfolio/resume development, interviewing techniques, site selection, contract law, and copyright management. Use of legal and financial advisors with a variety of business topics related to production companies, use of post houses, professional organizations, taxes, insurance, entrepreneurship, distribution, marketing, and sales will be discussed in depth. (3 Lec.)

RTVB 2382   Cooperative Education - Radio and Television Broadcasting Technology/Technician (3)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: Completion of at least 12 hours of Video Technology courses. The student should secure an internship position in the industry prior to enrolling.
