RADR 1166   Practicum (or Field Experience) - Radiologic Technology/Science - Radiographer (1)

Prerequisite: HPRS 2231, HPRS 1204, HPRS 1271, RADR 2213, RADR 1411, RADR 1313, RADR 2301 or instructor permission.
Practical, general workplace training supported by an individualized learning plan developed by the employer, college, and student. (8 Ext.)

RADR 1201   Introduction to Radiography (2)
This is a WECM Course Number.
An overview of the historical development of radiography, basic radiation protection, an introduction to medical terminology, ethical and legal issues for health care professionals, and an orientation to the program and the health care system. (2 Lec.)

RADR 1202   Radiographic Image Evaluation I (2)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: RADR 1166 or instructor permission.
This course will introduce the student to the scientific process of radiographic image evaluation. (2 Lec.)

RADR 1203   Patient Care (2)
This is a WECM Course Number.
An introduction in patient assessment, infection control procedures, emergency and safety procedures, communication and patient interaction skills, and basic pharmacology. (1 Lec., 2 Lab.)

RADR 1250   Radiographic Image Evaluation II (2)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: RAD4 1202, RADR 1267 or instructor permission.
Assessment of radiographic images with an emphasis on identifying image artifacts, positioning qualities of the image, and technical qualities of the image using advanced concepts. (2 Lec.)

RADR 1291   Special Topics in Medical Radiologic Technology/Technician (2)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Topics address recently identified current events, skills, knowledge, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to Radiologic technology and relevant to the professional development of the student. This course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary. (2 Lec.)

RADR 1313   Principles of Radiographic Imaging I (3)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: RADR 1411.
An introduction to radiographic image qualities and the effects of exposure variables upon these qualities. (2 Lec., 3 Lab.)

RADR 1411   Basic Radiographic Procedures (4)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: RADR 2213, HPRS 1204, SCIT 1408 or BIOL 2402 or concurrent enrollment, or instructor permission.
An introduction to radiographic positioning terminology, the proper manipulation of equipment, positioning and alignment of the anatomical structure and equipment, and evaluation of images for proper demonstration of basic anatomy. (3 Lec., 4 Lab.)

RADR 2209   Radiographic Imaging Equipment (2)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: RADR 1313 and RADR 2305.
Equipment and physics of x-ray production. Includes basic x-ray circuits. Also examines the relationship of conventional and digital equipment components to the imaging process. (2 Lec.)

RADR 2213   Radiation Biology and Protection (2)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: SCIT 1407 or BIOL 2401 and admission to the program.
A study of the effects of radiation exposure on biological systems, typical medical exposure levels, methods for measuring and monitoring radiation and methods for protecting personnel and patients from excessive exposure. (2 Lec.)

RADR 2217   Radiographic Pathology (2)

Prerequisite: HPRS 2201, SCIT 1408 or BIOL 2402, RADR 1411, RADR 2301, RADR 2331 or instructor permission.
A presentation of the disease process and common diseases and their appearance on medical images. (2 Lec.)

RADR 2233   Advanced Medical Imaging (2)

Prerequisite: RADR 2240 or instructor permission.
An exploration of specialized imaging modalities with an emphasis on the concepts and theories of equipment operation and their integration for medical diagnosis. (1 Lec., 3 Lab.)

RADR 2235   Radiologic Technology Seminar (2)

Prerequisite: All previously required RADR courses in sequence, concurrent enrollment or permission of the instructor.
A capstone course focusing on the synthesis of professional knowledge, skills, and attitudes in preparation for professional employment and lifelong learning. (1 Lec., 3 Lab.)

RADR 2240   Sectional Anatomy for Medical Imaging (2)

In-depth coverage of anatomic relationships that are present under various sectional orientations as depicted by medical imaging. (2 Lec.)

Prerequisite: RADR 1267.

RADR 2301   Intermediate Radiographic Procedures (3)

A continuation of the study of the proper manipulation of radiographic equipment, positioning and alignment of the anatomical structure and equipment, and evaluation of images for proper demonstration of anatomy. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

RADR 2305   Principles of Radiographic Imaging II (3)

Prerequisite: RADR 1313.
A continuation of the study of radiographic imaging technique formulation, image quality assurance, and the synthesis of all variables in image production. (2 Lec., 2 Lab.)

RADR 2309   Radiograhic Imaging Equipment (3)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: RADR 1313, RADR 2305, or instructor permission.
A study of the equipment and physics of x-ray production, basic x-ray circuits, and the relationship of conventional and digital equipment components to the imaging process. (3 Lec.)

RADR 2331   Advanced Radiographic Procedures (3)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: RADR 1411 and RADR 2301.
Continuation of positioning; alignment of the anatomical structure and equipment, evaluation of images for proper demonstration of anatomy and related pathology. (2 Lec., 2 Lab.)

RADR 2340   Sectional Anatomy for Medical Imaging (3)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program or other Diagnostic Imaging Program.
Anatomic relationships that are present under various sectional orientations as depicted by computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging. (3 Lec.)
