PHYS 1405   Concepts in Physics (4)
This is a Texas Common Course Number.
Prerequisite: Developmental Reading 0093 or English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0044 or have met the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standard in Reading.
This course is for non-science majors and introduces the principles of physics. Emphasis is on classical mechanics, atomic nature of matter and thermodynamics. The history of scientific developments and their impact on daily life are discussed. The principle of energy conservation is stressed, and current problems of worldwide energy production are examined. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)
