CPMT 1305   IT Essentials I: PC Hardware and Software (3)
This is a WECM Course Number.
An introduction to information technology and data communication. Includes topics on personal computer hardware and software and basic networking concepts. Licensing/Certification Agency: Cisco Corporation. This course is cross-listed as CPMT 1405. The student may register for either CPMT 1305 or CPMT 1405, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

This is a WECM Course Number.
A study of the information for the assembly of a microcomputer system. Emphasis on the evolution of microprocessors and microprocessor bus structures. (3 Lec.)

CPMT 1309   IT Essentials II: Network Operating Systems (3)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: CPMT 1305 or instructor approval.
An overview of network operating systems and specifically covers the Linux Red Hat Network operating system. Students will learn how to use the Linux operating system, the K Desktop Environment (KDE) and GNU Network Object Model (GNOME). Licensing/Certification Agency: Cisco Corporation. This course is cross-listed as CPMT 1409. The student may register for either CPMT 1309 or CPMT 1409, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

CPMT 1404   Microcomputer System Software (4)
This is a WECM Course Number.
In this course the students will develop skills in the installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of system software in microcomputers. Topics covered may include operating systems, utility software and other software affecting the basic operation of a microcomputer system. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)

Prerequisite: ITSC 1405 and ITSC 1425 or CPMT 1305 or instructor approval.
Integration and maintenance of various home technology subsystems. Includes home automation, security and surveillance, home networks, video and audio networks, and structured wiring. This course is cross-listed as CPMT 2402. The student may register for either CPMT 2302 or CPMT 2402, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

Prerequisite: CCNA 4 or current CCNA certification.
Overall security processes with particular emphasis on hands-on skills in the following areas: security policy design and management; security technologies, products and solutions; firewall and secure router design, installation, configuration and maintenance; AAA implementation using routers and firewalls; VPN implementation using routers and firewalls. Licensing/Certification Agency: Cisco Corporation. This course is cross-listed as CPMT 2434. The student may register for either CPMT 2334 or CPMT 2434, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
