ASSOCIATE IN SCIENCES DEGREE WITH AN EMPHASIS IN MATHEMATICS

This is an "Emphasis" degree. Students should read and understand the paragraphs below.
This degree plan is designed to meet the needs of students who plan to transfer to a four-year college/university with a major in Mathematics. Students planning to continue their Mathematics studies as a transfer student should check specific requirements at the transfer institution. This is a general plan and it may not satisfy all the requirements of a specific transfer four-year college/university.
In order to be eligible to receive this AS degree, a student must:
- Complete a minimum of 61 credit hours including all the required courses listed;
- Earn a grade of "C" or better in English 1301, either Speech 1311 or 1315, and the selected college-level mathematics course;
- Receive a GPA (2) of at least 2.00 ("C");
- Meet all Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards and course prerequisites; and
- Complete at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by the college awarding the degree.
Students who plan to transfer must work closely with an academic advisor/counselor.

Students should select no less than 16 hours from the following courses. The lowest level course in the math sequence will be used to meet the core curriculum mathematics requirement; a grade of "C" or better required in the lowest level math course.
