SLNG 1317   Introduction to the Deaf Community (3)
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: or concurrent enrollment: ENGL 1301.
An overview of the physical, educational, social and cultural implications of deafness and hearing loss within the context of the individual's personal life, family, and community in today's multicultural world. Emphasis on current educational and vocational programs, legislation, technology, and other issues. (3 Lec., 1 Lab.)

Designated by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for transfer among community colleges and state public four year colleges and universities as freshman and sophomore general education courses.

WECM Courses
Designated by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board as workforce education (technical) courses offered for credit and CEUs (Continuing Education Units).
