Introduces the physical aspects of CISCO voice and data network cabling and installation; skills development in reading network design documentation, part list setup and purchase, pulling and mounting cable, cable management, choosing wiring closets and patch panel installation and termination, installing jacks and testing cable. Prerequisite: Basic networking course, networking experience, or instructor approval.
This introductory course teaches students the skills needed to obtain entry-level home and small business network installer jobs, network technicians, computer technicians, cable installers, and help desk technicians. It provides a hands-on introduction to networking and the Internet using tools and hardware commonly found in home and small business environments. Labs include PC installation, Internet connectivity, wireless connectivity, file and print sharing, and the installation of game consoles, scanners, and cameras. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

Prerequisite: ITCC 1310 or instructor approval.
This course prepares students for jobs as network technicians. It also helps students develop additional skills required for computer technicians and help desk technicians. It provides a basic overview of routing and remote access, addressing, and security. It also familiarizes students with servers that provide e-mail services, Web space, and authenticated access. Students also learn about soft skills required for help desk and customer service positions. Network monitoring and basic troubleshooting skills are taught on context. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

This course familiarizes students with the equipment applications and protocols installed in enterprise networks, with a focus on switched networks, IP Telephony requirements, and security. It also introduces advanced routing protocols such as Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) Protocol. Hands-on exercises include configuration, installation, and troubleshooting. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

A course introducing the architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the Internet. Describes the use of OSI and TCP layered models to examine the nature and roles of protocols and services at the applications, network, data link, and physical layers. Covers the principles and structure of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations. Build simple LAN topologies by applying basic principles of cabling; perform basic configurations of network devices, including routers and switches; and implementing IP addressing schemes. Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) architecture, components, and functionality. Includes VOIP signaling, call control, voice dial plans, configuring voice interfaces, dial peers, and quality of service (QoS) technologies. This course is cross-listed as ITCC 2459. This course helps students develop an in-depth understanding of how switches operate and are implemented in the LAN environment for small and large networks. Detailed explanations of LAN switch operations, VLAN implementation, Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP), VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP), Inter-VLAN routing, and wireless network operations. Analyze, configure, verify, and troubleshoot VLANs, RSTP, VTP, and wireless networks. Campus network design and Layer 3 switching concepts are introduced. This course explains the principles of traffic control and access control lists (ACLs) and provides an overview of the services and protocols at the data link layer for wide-area access. Describes user access technologies and devices and discovers how to implement and configure Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE), DSL, and Frame Relay. WAN security concepts, tunneling, and VPN basics are introduced. Discuss the special network services required by converged applications and an introduction to quality of service (QoS). A study of advanced network deployment issues and methods used to configure Cisco routers for effective LAN and WAN traffic management. Topics include designing scalable internetworks, managing traffic, configuring OSPF in single and multiple areas, configuring EIGRP, and configuring and using interior and border gateway routing protocols and techniques used for route filtering and route redirection. This course introduces students about the deployment of the state-of-the-art campus LANs. The course focuses on the selection and implementation of the appropriate Cisco IOS services to build reliable scalable multilayer-switched LANs. Students will develop skills with VLANs, VTP, STP, inter-VLAN routing, multilayer switching, redundancy, Cisco AVVID solutions, Quality of Service (QoS) issues, campus LAN security, and emerging transparent LAN services. This course focuses on documenting and baselining networks and Layer 1 through 4 troubleshooting. Topics include Cisco Troubleshooting Tools, diagnosing and correcting problems within TCP/IP, Frame Relay, and ISDN network connections. Licensing/Certification Agency: Cisco Corporation. ITCC 2450   Building Scalable Internetworks (4)

Prerequisite: ITCC 2410 or ITCC 1446 or CCNA certification.
Create an efficient and expandable enterprise network by installing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting network infrastructure equipment (especially routers such as Cisco ISRs) according to the Campus Infrastructure module in the Enterprise Composite Network model. Topics include how to configure EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP routing protocols and how to manipulate and optimize routing updates between these routing protocols. Students will learn how to secure and expand the reach of an enterprise network with focus on VPN configuration and securing network access. Topics include teleworker configuration and access, Frame-Mode MPLS, site-to-site IPSec VPN, Cisco EZVPN, strategies used to mitigate network attacks, Cisco device hardening and IOS firewall features.
