Beginning Ancient Greek I
This is a Texas Common Course Number. This is a DCCCD Core Curriculum Course.
Course Description: This is the first semester of academic transfer Ancient Greek. It is an introductory course intended for students with little or no knowledge of the language. Its aim is to present essential vocabulary and grammar, and to develop the skills necessary for reading of easy prose. Emphasis is on the value of Greek as a background for the study of English and modern foreign languages. Customs and cultural insights are also presented. This course is cross-listed as GREE 1411 but is also used in Study Abroad programs. Students may register for either GREE 1311 or GREE 1411 but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec., 1 Lab.)

Course Description: This is the second semester of academic transfer Ancient Greek. This course continues the reading, writing, grammar and cultural studies begun in GREE 1411. Students are expected to acquire a substantial amount of vocabulary and begin to deal with idiomatic language and more advanced syntax. (3 Lec., 2 Lab.)

Intermediate Ancient Greek I

Prerequisite: GREE 1412 or the equivalent or demonstrated competence approved by the instructor.
Course Description: This is the third semester of academic transfer Ancient Greek. This course is designed to further develop students’ overall language proficiency and cultural knowledge through more advanced readings. Grammatical concepts are reviewed and expanded. Selected readings from one or more Ancient Greek texts. (3 Lec.)

Intermediate Ancient Greek II

Prerequisite: GREE 2311 or the equivalent or demonstrated competence approved by the instructor.
Course Description: This is the fourth semester of academic transfer Ancient Greek. This course is a continuation of GREE 2311. The stress is on reading, grammatical and syntactical complexities, with continued studies of the culture. Selected readings from one or more Ancient Greek texts. (3 Lec.)
