EPA Recovery Certification Preparation
This is a WECM Course Number.
Course Description: Certification training for HVAC refrigerant recovery and recycling. Instruction will provide a review of EPA guidelines for refrigerant recovery and recycling during the installation, service, and repair of all HVAC and refrigeration systems. (2 Lec., 2 Lab.)

Practicum (Or Field Experience) - Heating, Air Conditioning, And Refrigeration Technology/Technician
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: HART 1401, HART 1403, and HART 1407.
Course Description: Practical general training and experiences in the workplace. The college with the employer develops and documents an individualized plan for the student. The plan relates the workplace training and experiences to the student's general and technical course of study. The guided external experiences may be paid or unpaid. (21 Ext.)

Cooperative Education - Heating, Air Conditioning, And Refrigeration Technology/Technician

Course Description: Career related activities encountered in the student's area of specialization are offered through a cooperative agreement between the college, employer, and student. Under supervision of the college and the employer, the student combines classroom learning with work experience. Directly related to a technical discipline, specific learning objectives guide the student through the paid work experience. (1 Lec., 20 Ext.)

Basic Electricity for HVAC

Course Description: Principles of electricity as required by HVAC, including proper use of test equipment, electrical circuits, and component theory and operation. This course is cross-listed as HART 1301. The student may register for either HART 1401 or HART 1301, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec.,3 Lab.)

Air Conditioning Control Principles
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: HART 1401.
Course Description: A basic study of electrical, pressure, and temperature controls including motor starting devices, operating relays, and troubleshooting safety controls and devices. Emphasis on use of wiring diagrams to analyze high and low voltage circuits. A review of Ohms law as applied to A/C controls and circuits. This course is cross-listed as HART 1303. The student may register for either HART 1403 or HART 1303, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)

Refrigeration Principles

Course Description: An introduction to the refrigeration cycle, basic thermodynamics, heat transfer, temperature/pressure relationship, safety, refrigeration containment, and refrigeration components. Residential Air Conditioning Systems Design

Prerequisite: Advanced standing, or consent of instructor.
Course Description: Study of the properties of air and results of cooling, heating, humidifying or dehumidifying; heat gain and heat loss calculations including equipment selection and balancing the air system. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)
