TECA 1303 (3 Credit Hours)
Offered at BHC, CVC, EFC, MVC, NLC, RLC.

Families, School and Community
This is an Academic Transfer Credit Course Number. This is a DCCCD Core Curriculum Course.
Prerequisite: One of the following must be met: (1) Developmental Reading 0093 or (2) English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0044 or (3) have met the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Reading standard.
Corequisite/Concurrent: Students will be required to submit to and pass a criminal background search as prescribed by the program and college.
Course Description: A study of the child, family, community and school, including parent education and involvement, family and community lifestyles, child abuse, and current family life issues. Students are required to participate in 16 hours of field experiences with children from infancy through age 12 in a variety of settings with varied and diverse populations. Course content is aligned with State Board for Educator Certification Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities Standards. (3 Lec.)
