Environmental Science I
This is a Texas Common Course Number. This is a DCCCD Core Curriculum Course.
Prerequisite: One of the following must be met: (1) Developmental Reading 0093 or (2) English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0044 or (3) have met the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Reading and Writing standards.
Course Description: Interdisciplinary study of both natural (biology, chemistry, geology) and social (economics, politics, ethics) sciences as they apply to the environment. Focus on current global concerns, including, global warming, overpopulation, deforestation, pollution, biodiversity and resource use. Practical laboratory experience emphasizes the application of fundamental principles of biology, chemistry and geology as well as critical thinking and analysis. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)
