Emphasis Degrees
ASSOCIATE IN ARTS DEGREE WITH AN EMPHASIS IN TEACHING EARLY CHILDHOOD - GRADE 6 Degree Code: AA.UTA.BIL.PREK-6.10 Students completing all courses in this plan will receive an AA degree and will be assured all courses with a grade of "C" or better will transfer into UTA's College of Education for a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Child Studies with teacher certification in Early Childhood - Grade 6/Bilingual. Students will be admitted into the program with a DCCCD GPA (2) of at least 2.75. Students MUST take the THEA (Texas Higher Education Assessment) test and score at least 270 on Reading, 220 on Writing, and 230 on Math in order to be accepted into this program at UTA. This AA plan incorporates the Core Curriculum plus 18 hours toward the degree. The AA degree will be awarded when students complete all requirements at a minimum of 60 credit hours. Students are also permitted to acquire an additional 8 hours beyond the AA degree before transferring to UTA. In order to be eligible to receive this AA degree, a student must:
