Introduction to Sociology
This is a Texas Common Course Number. This is a DCCCD Core Curriculum Course.
Prerequisite: Developmental Reading 0093 or English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0044 and Developmental Writing 0093 OR English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0054 or have met the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standard in Reading and Writing.
Course Description: This course is a sociological study of social behavior and social structures, emphasizing the importance of a knowledge and appreciation of the multi-cultural and multiethnic dimensions of society. Topics include cultural elements such as values, norms, beliefs, language, and roles, as well as group processes, social conflict and social change. (3 Lec.)
