American Government
This is a Texas Common Course Number. This is a DCCCD Core Curriculum Course.
Prerequisite: The following must be met: (1) Developmental Reading 0093 or English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0044 or have met the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Reading Standard AND (2) Developmental Writing in 0093, or English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0054 or have met the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Writing Standard.
Course Description: The three branches of the United States and Texas government are studied. Topics include the legislative process, the executive and bureaucratic structure, the judicial process, civil rights and liberties, and domestic policies. Other topics include foreign relations and national defense. (To ensure transferability, students should plan to take both Government 2301 and 2302 within the DCCCD.) (3 Lec.)
