RESIDENTIAL BUILDING PERFORMANCE TECHNOLOGY(Associate in Applied Sciences Degree) Cedar Valley only
Degree Plan Code: AAS.RBPT The Residential Building Performance Technology AAS provides an opportunity for students to acquire knowledge using a systems approach to improve the health, safety, comfort, durability, environmental quality, and energy efficiency of a home. Students will use a variety of diagnostic tools to identify deficiencies in the home, make recommendations, verify the performance of installed improvements, and above all protect the health and safety of those who inhabit the home. The role of a rater or verifier in a variety of residential energy efficient and green rating systems will be explored. Emphasis will be placed on building site location and preservation, neighborhood sustainability, conservation of non-renewable resources, waste management, water quality, and air quality both inside and outside the building. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to make sound economic recommendations regarding the combination of building technologies, energy loads, and onsite power generation to meet the qualifications of a net zero energy home.

NOTE: Students enrolling in this program who plan to transfer to a four-year institution should consult an advisor or counselor regarding transfer requirements and the transferability of these courses to the four-year institution of their choice. |
