DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHY(Associate in Applied Sciences Degree, Tech Prep) El Centro only
Degree Plan Code: AAS.DM.SONO.11 The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program prepares the student to function as a medical sonographer. The diagnostic medical sonographer performs sonography examinations using high frequency sound waves to visualize soft tissue structures, including the gall bladder, kidneys, pregnant uterus and other organs as requested by the physician. This program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP, 35 East Wacker Drive, Suite 1970, Chicago, Illinois 60601-2208: Telephone number 312.553.9355) and (JRC-DMS, 2025 Woodlane Dr. St Paul, Minn. 55125; Telephone number 651.731.7244) in cooperation with the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Admission requirements include an information session, satisfactory scores on pre-entrance assessment testing, rank ordering by grade point, interviews and recommendation letters, and completion of all requirements for admission as a full-time student to the college.
