Cultural Anthropology
This is a Texas Common Course Number. This is a DCCCD Core Curriculum Course.
Prerequisite: DREA 0093 or English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0044 or have met the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standard in Reading.
Course Description: This course introduces students to the elements and processes that create culture, society and social interaction. Language, cross-cultural communication, fieldwork, and analysis of multi-cultural societies are covered. A special emphasis is given to cross-cultural comparison and analysis of basic social institutions on a global scale in order to provide students with an appreciation and understanding of the underlying unity of diverse cultural expressions. (3 Lec.)
